I had planned this trip, as I often do, for this group of divers but it didn’t happen as originally hoped for and was rescheduled for mid-August, only to be postponed because of strong winds.
On the 25th July and our second (really 3rd) attempt was a fabulously successful day with almost perfect conditions.
Launch and recovery of Hornet at West Bay and two planned dives in Lyme Bay, calling into Lyme for lunch between dives.
This was and often is a long day, setting of at 6am at least but this time the M5 was closed on the way home so what is normally a 10.30pm return became 12.30am!!!!!
First dive was a look around to see if we could perhaps find a scallop or two, this was very successful and everyone was content 😉…….so back into Lyme harbour and a chat between cox and harbour master we tie up and wander onto quayside.
Then after drinks and a light lunch, back out for the 2nd dive, this was on the Baggy……. the viz was superb and huge numbers of fish…. Bib, Wrasse, enormous (size and number) of Conger all accessed via a perfectly dropped shot line; first attempt too!!!!!!
Diving over, its back to West Bay
Around 5pm the boat was returned to Rob Perry’, to be washed down and covered up, kit being loaded into respective cars before heading off to the pub for ‘Après Dive” drinks, dinner (eventually, as our normal pub has changed beyond recognition and there’s no room at the inn, or many other places either…. bloody summer holidays and tourists!) and sorting out the days accounts and then heading off up the M5 and home……. at long last.
Thanks to everyone on the trip for helping out, doing whatever jobs you were allocated and just getting on with it, this all makes for Happy Diving😎
