Stratford-upon-Avon, Saturday — The Stratford upon Avon Sub Aqua Club marked a monumental milestone this weekend, celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a vibrant and heartfelt gathering at Stratford Town Football Club.

Founded in 1974, the club has grown from a small group of passionate divers into a thriving community of underwater explorers, adventurers, and conservationists. Saturday’s event was a tribute to five decades of camaraderie, discovery, and dedication to the sport of diving.

The celebration kicked off at 7:30 PM, welcoming current members, alumni, friends, and family to an evening filled with nostalgia and joy. The venue buzzed with energy as guests enjoyed a mix of music, food, drinks, and shared stories from dives past. A special presentation highlighted the club’s history, showcasing photos and memorabilia from its earliest days through to its most recent expeditions.

Club Chairperson Nigel delivered a humorous speech, thanking members for their unwavering support and commitment over the years. “This club has always been more than just about diving,” they said. “It’s about friendship, learning, and pushing boundaries together. Tonight, we celebrate not just our past, but the exciting future ahead.” Founder member Keith Bond gave a short speech on the origins of the club and was supported by other founding members.

A bar-b-que was held by the clubs own MasterChef and a commemorative cake, adorned with the club’s logo and a golden ‘50’, was cut to cheers and applause by the founders.

As the evening drew to a close, guests chatted and drank recalling past adventures and ones yet to come. The sense of pride and unity was palpable, reminding everyone why the Stratford upon Avon Sub Aqua Club continues to thrive.
