Stratford BSAC – Plymouth trip August 8th – 10 2025
The recent scuba and camping trip to Falmouth was a big hit. Eight divers set up camp in Brixton near Plymouth with the recently serviced rib, “Hornet”. The weather did us proud as did the flat-calm sea, particularly on the Sunday. Departing from the Mountbatten Centre slipway each day, we headed to the wreck of the Scylla followed by a drift dive over the Mew Stones. On the Sunday the weather and sea state allowed us to reach the Eddystone Lighthouse and rock pinnacle fourteen miles offshore at a brisk twenty-eight knots. The Falmouth Coastguard were pleased to hear from us, and the radio was crystal clear. During the Eddystone trip, we were joined by Rizzo’s dolphins that rode the bow wave and passed under the boat; close enough to get video footage above and below the surface. A number of “firsts” were achieved. Several of the crew took turns at helming the rib.

Hoppo completed his Dive Leader qualification (you don’t want to rush these things ) and Charl did his deepest dive so far. The new electronics on board were clear and easy to use and the new boat cover looks the business.
It’s great to see Hornet getting plenty of use and it’s due back out shortly in Babbacombe.
