The results of the 2017 photo competition were announced in a great evening on April 6th. Thanks to Sally and Hilary for organising the competition, Prich for his fiendishly difficult quiz, and all the photographers who entered. Here are the winning entries in each of the twelve categories.
- Miles Howarth’s sea lion won the large animals category and also took the people’s choice ‘best in show’ award.
- Sophie Hastie’s photo of long tail banner fish won in the shoaling fish category.
- Richard Talbot’s photo of a wreck won in the wrecks and people underwater category
- This winning photograph was taken by Graham Greener
- Sophie Hastie won the turtles category with this photo taken whilst snorkelling in the Maldives
- Richard Wells’s lobster won the crustaceans category.
- David Williams won the moray category with this Leopard Moray
- Graham Greener won the specimen fish category.
- The statics category was won by Paul Stoodley with this wonderful shot of an anenome, which also won him best newcomer.
- The rays category was won by Chris Hastie with a photo of Jenkins stingrays taken in the Maldives
- Keith Bond’s photograph of a surfer won the above water category.
- The clown fish category was won by Jon Arthur with this photo taken in Thailand
